The New "Insert Government Program Here"-Industrial Complex

First it was the Military-Industrial-Complex (MIC) which arose as a permanent feature of the United States after WWII.  Although Dwight Eisenhower warned us of the implications of the MIC, we were told we needed it to defend America from Communist Russia during the Cold War.  Next, it was the Security-Industrial-Complex (SIC), which arose after 9/11.  Like the MIC, the SIC is really just an enormous subsidy program.  The companies which make up the MIC and SIC would fail in a free market because the government is their only only consumer.  I guess it was only a matter of time.  The newest blank-Industrail Complex is the DEIC, the Drug-Enforcement-Industrial-Complex.
